Nocturnal recording, the whole night, approx. 14h of recording time. Recording starts at 18,05h with the first dark ending around 7h in the morning. This Phonography (soundscape) recording gives you a "look" into the secret life of Wolves in nature.
With these recordings you can spend a whole night in the forest, on the mountain slopes, near the Wolves.
This is a Phography recording of the place near the Doe carcass killed by the Wolves.
This is a perimeter of around 20m in diameter so -called the kill zone where everything happens.
This is not the night of the kill. This is a second or third night after and the carcass is mostly eaten
by the wolves.
What remains is the bones and some soft tissue. You can hear how the bones/spine are cracking in wolf's jaws.
At some point in the night they take a carcass further down the slope and
a little bit to the left (PAN left).
If you are listening very carefully you can hear the wolves from time to time all night long.
Even if you don't hear them they are not far away.
They are always around the mics and they are eating, socializing and walking around during the night but they are pretty much silent. There is no howling or other loud sounds because…
This spot is close to the shepherd dogs (cattle) down in the valley at approx. 1 km of air distance and those dogs are agitated from time to time during the night (PAN Left) probably when winds change and start to blow towards them. The weather starts with fog in the evening with no wind at all and changes during night to north wind (dark Bora) with some rain from time to time and at the end.
Recorded in Croatia in Winter 2021/2022. Recorded with SASS (stereo ambient sampling system) mic setup.
