Mountain pasture

by Ivo Vicic

Sounds of a mountain pasture, Northern Croatia (EU), traditional pasture.

This recording brings you the sounds of a summer mountain pasture: crickets, the buzzing of insects, a distinct Common Buzzard's (Buteo Buteo) call, wind in grass and trees, but also bleating of sheep along with sounds of bells and shepherds shouts.
The herd is in motion most of the time. It starts early in the morning from so-called "shepherd's flat" and goes around mountain slopes, passes through mountain meadows and finally comes back to the shepherd's flat. These recordings register one of these pastures, the whole cycle on various terrains: from mountain slopes and forests to the mountain meadows. Recordings also contain barking of the autonomous Croatian mountain dog - Tornjak.

This nature album consists of recordings which encompass the whole soundscape or near-field recordings, containing more louder details in narrative or documentary character. The whole audio recording has its timeline which starts on the mountain slope early in the the morning and ends on meadows close to shepherd's flat some time after noon, thus circling morning shepherd's cycle. All recordings have been made in the mountain-area of Platak
(Primorsko-goranska county) in the summer of 2012.

This is a high quality recording originally recorded, edited and mixed at 24bit 96kHz resolution. Recorded with finest audio field equipment.
